Sunlight   Rock

Sunlight Rock is located in Gulang Islet. Gulang Islet is a perfect area which makes Xiamen being considered as one of most favorable city in China. The islet is endowed with marvelous scenery ,where hills strech gracefully into the sea and where human excellences rival natural wonders.

Today,we will be captivated by its ideal ecological environment for life. Besides, the islet has a laudatory title “ The World Architecture Museum”. We will appreciate the artistic beauty of 19th century European-style architecture blending well with the traditional Chinese culture. The residents here love music very much, and the number of the piano possession is in the top place in China, though there is only a population of 20,000 people. So the islet is praised as the “ Piano Islet” “Town of Music”

As a National Model City of Environmental Protection, for its limpid water, fresh air, fresh flowers and green trees, it has been a heaven of city-bird egret. Well, a world of birds is waiting for us, that are Piano Garden. Let’s enjoy it.

Piano Garden of 30,000sq. Meter is named after the island—Piano Island. The 7,000sq.meter Bird Garden on the slope of Piano Garden is an entertainment Park where birds are raised and trained. You can see the bird performance there. There are more than 1,000 birds of over 100 rare species, which a dozen varieties are under preservation. “Pheasant Lawn” and the performing center are birds of rare species from Africa like royal crown cranes, yellow-beak cranes and others. Performance includes parrots carrying water, riding bicycle and so on. Or you can feed the birds by yourself if you like.

Sunlight Rock is the highest hill on the island standing at 92.7m above sea level. It is a landmark for Xiamen and a must for tourists to this coastal scenery city. On its peak the Sky-Wind Stand, you will be fascinated by the charming landscape of Gulangyu and Xiamen Island across the sea, the circle islands and the new-completed Haicang Bridge. A popular saying goes that you can’t say you have been to Xiamen unless you have visited Gulang Islet. To put it more exactly, you can’t say you have been to Xiamen unless you have visited Sunlight Rock.

There is a narrow step, these have appealed to the famous general Zheng Chenggong for his army stationed here.

Now, we are in the front of Sunlight Temple. In the past 400 years, the temple has experienced quite a number of renovations, but remained basically a tiny of not shabby temple. The opening and reform in the 1980s brought the prosperity of the temple’s construction. Since then it has been thrived on local government’s emphasis on religion protection and the donations from believers home and abroad.
